The Grave of Abram Hageman Inscription: "ABRAM Son of I. & M. HAGEMAN Born Aug. 27, 1832 DIED Jan. 31,
1840" Abram Hageman (27 Aug 1832 - 31 Jan 1840) was born
in Somerset Co., New Jersey. He was a son of Isaac Hageman Jr. and his first wife, Maria Wyckoff (Voorhees) Hageman. Note
that the death dates of mother Maria and son Abram are only 4 days apart, suggesting they may have died during one of the
terrible epidemics that ravaged Fulton Co. during those early years. Immediately
to the left of Abram's grave is that of his half-brother John T. Hageman, and to the left of that is the grave of Abram's
mother, Maria Wyckoff (Voorhees) Hageman.

JOSEPH D. HAGAMAN, WIFE AND SON Buried on this lovely hillside
near Ganotown in beautiful Berkeley County, West Virginia, are Joseph D. Hagaman, born bef 1 Jul 1787 in
Amwell Township, Hunterdon, NJ, and died Aug 15, 1825, in Berkeley County, VA. His is the stone with the initials.
The other two graves have blank stones. They are probably those of his wife and son, since the three of them died within 7
years of each other there on that farm.

We’ve been unable to find any documents naming Joseph’s wife, who died soon after the birth of
her third child, John Hagaman, born 22 Dec 1823. Little John is probably in the other grave. He died at the age
of 7 on 11 Sep 1831.
|
|
Joseph’s other two children, Antoinette, b. 14 Jan 1819 and Marenes, b. 27 Feb 1821, both in Berkeley
County, VA, lived to adulthood and beyond. The children were aged 6, 4 and 2 when their father died. Joseph sent
for his unmarried sister, Ann Hagaman, to come from Hunterdon County NJ to help him with the children when their mother died
about 18 months earlier. Ann stayed on as guardian of the children to raise them on this farm.
